Info on light installation: In 8 Poems I used a custom analog circuit to illuminate the show using poems. The circuit accomplishes this by gating (blocking) electricity from the fluorescent lights until sound amplitude is present. You can think of it like a light coming from a mouth every time someone wants to make a sound. I used a dedicated computer and 8ch. audio interface to control each light individually. I programmed an automation of 8 poems, 4 using my voice and 4 using Zoe Brezsny's voice. Zoe is my longterm love currently in the MFA for Poetry at Columbia University. Zoe and I are currently working on a book of poems for Land and Sea Press. I took some verses from the book to orchestrate my chorus of poets and in turn illuminate the show with synthesized language.
